DESCRIPTION:The Rinker Paladin Pitch Competition\, hosted by The Hill Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Furman University\, brings together four student finalists take the stage to pitch their new venture ideas for the chance to win the $10\,000 Johnny Flynn Award. \nThe event will begin with The Dins Student Marketplace from 3:00–4:00 PM\, an open campus showcase where student entrepreneurs showcase\, sell and promote their business ideas. You’re invited to enjoy food and drinks while connecting with founders and supporting Furman’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem before the pitch competition begins. The Dins Student Marketplace portion of the event is open to all Furman undergraduate and graduate students who would like to market their idea\, product or service. Students can sign up for the showcase here. \nFrom 4:00 to 5:30 PM\, a panel of judges will evaluate each pitch\, and audience members will have the opportunity to cast a vote for their favorite venture\, with the crowd favorite receiving a prize. This event is open to Furman students\, faculty\, staff\, alumni\, parents\, and the broader community. Following the conclusion of the pitch competition\, all registered attendees will be entered into a raffle with prizes awarded. This event is free and open to students\, faculty\, staff and the general public\, with registration requested for community members. \nDrawing from his recently published book\, A Concise Guide to South Carolina State Government\, Sheheen will offer a clear and engaging look at how state government works and why it matters.
